His work in conceiving an entire Catland inspired the creators of Felix the Cat and even Mickey Mouse; Haining notes that Wain also "played a major part in making the cat the most popular of all domestic pets." 9.5'' x 7''. Original quarter cloth, flexible card covers with pictorial paste-on and black-printed ornamental border. Illustrated by Wain with 4 mounted color plates on dark grey paper, 3 full-page black-and-white plates, 4 half-page black-and-white images and 10 smaller black-and-white illustrations in-text. Faint foxing to title page, trace edgewear to wrappers.
