Description
London: B. Feldman & Co, 1915. NA. Very Good. N.d., circa 1915. A 48 cm square, made with a sheer silk, with lettering and flags in the centerpiece (as opposed to the border) embroidered in, while illustrations along border are not so -- simply color silk thread was used for these. With a distinctive map of the Middle East -- Ottoman territory -- as a centerpiece. The border is decorated with the flags of the Entente members, which included Japan and other lesser players in the Great War -- and pyramid vignettes enliven the corners. The hankie deserves to be framed and hung on a wall for display. The silk hankie is presumed a scarce survivor. With some light soiling, but overall, very attractive. We presume that the soiling will come out with a sensitive cleaning, but we haven't tested this.
