Description
New York, 1872. Original printed wrappers [which are chipped and very dirty], stitched. 43, [1] pp, plus three separate printed leaves, each from a prominent citizen asserting that the facts stated by Cash in the pamphlet are true. The text is clean, except for some light margin spotting. Good+. "I have published this pamphlet not for general circulation, but only for the perusal of those who know us, in order that they may fully understand the reason why my wife and myself have separated. I deem it best to give the cause of the trouble in full, not only for my own sake, but in order that our acquaintances may not have a shadow of doubt on the subject." Mrs. Cash had an unseemly "fondness for a fast life" and "preference for the society of any man other than that of her husband." She carried on an "illicit amour for years," and thus "the scales fell from my eyes and I learned, to my bitter sorrow, how deeply she had fallen into the depths of infamy." Her "criminal intercourse" occurred while they resided in San Francisco, and thereafter. Not located on OCLC as of October 2015.
