Description
S. l. (White Pigeon): By the authors. Very good. First edition presumed, n. d.; red wraps, printed in black; illustrated with numerous sepia photographs; minor creasing and wear to tips of spine; in very good or better condition. An anonymous little booklet, it appears to have been published by citizens of White Pigeion - a small town in St. Joseph County, Michigan - known for being the oldest incorporated village in Michigan (in 1837) and for having the oldest surviving U.S. Land Office in the state. It was named after the local Potawatomi chief Wahbememe, meaning White Pigeon, who was buried near the town. The booklet featured snippets of the history of White Pigeon, as well as descriptions and images of various local landmarks.
