Description
London: W. Oliver, 1862. 202 pp. Illustrated. Good condition. Wraps almost detached. William Windham (1840-1866) was an eccentric young man who inherited his father's estate. When he married a young woman against the wishes of his mother and uncle, they tried to have him declared insane. This piece documents the trial in which he was found sane. The resulting trial placed upon him a heavy debt and he spent his last few years living in a hotel and worked driving a coach.
