Description
[New-Haven: Green, 1789. 8pp [pp. 371-378], folio, stitched, lightly browned, light wear. Very Good. This imprint demonstrates Connecticut's adaptation to the new "Constitution, agreed upon by the Convention of the United States." The General Assembly enacts legislation prescribing election procedures for Senators and Representatives to Congress. Another Act requires all legislative, executive, and judicial officers of the State to "support the Constitution, agreed upon by the Convention of the United States, and ratified by the Convention of this State." Another Act suspends all suits brought in Connecticut by any citizen of recalcitrant Rhode Island, which had failed to ratify the Constitution and had passed disabling legislation against citizens of Connecticut. In recognition of the Constitution's establishment of a national free-trade zone and Congress's power over foreign commerce, Connecticut repeals its import duties. This is the "official issue" [Evans], with other printings in New London and Hartford. FIRST EDITION. Evans 21748. Bates 288. ESTC W7639 [4- AAS, HSP, Huntington, Pequot].

Description
Praze: Vaclav Nanka, 1945. First Edition. Paperback. Good+/Good+. Plain staple-bound wraps with cloth backstrip; full-color illustrated dust jacket; 4to; pp. [4], 25, [3], beautifully illustrated in full-color throughout. Covers detached, very brittle, and off-set onto illustrated first and last leaves of the text block; the occasional tiny chip or closed tear along edges of text block (in this cataloguer's opinion, inoffensive, and in no way detracting from the appeal of the illustrations or text). Dust jacket split along spine; very faintly soiled; and lightly chipped and torn along the edges; but colors remain bright, so it presents nicely in mylar. Sold as is. A very pretty, and very scarce, volume, showing a variety of folk toys, alongside verses by numerous contributors. OCLC locates 2 copies.
