Description
London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1912. RACKHAM, Arthur. London: Hodder & Stoughton, [n.d., 1912]. One of 500 numbered copies, signed by the Publishers and Engravers/Printers, out of a total edition of 600 copies, this being number 330. Large quarto (21 3/16 x 19 5/8 inches; 539 x 500 mm.). [4] pp. Including engraved title-page and limitation statement. Twelve large proof size color plates mounted in mats with descriptive tissue guards. Original half vellum over light sage green cloth boards. Front cover lettered in gilt. New silk ties. All tissue guards present. Housed in the publisher's original printed box, one bottom panel flap detached but present, and a few small chips to side flaps, some rubbing, especially to the top lid. Overall, a near fine copy. Of the 600 copies of this portfolio (which preceded the American portfolio by two years), one hundred were bound in full vellum and five hundred in half vellum. This portfolio and the American edition contain the largest Rackham plates ever printed. Greatly enlarged from their earlier appearance, these twelve plates are considered to be Rackham's personal favorites from the fifty that appeared in his 1906 illustrated trade edition of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. Latimore and Haskell, p. 39. Riall, p. 113. HBS 67733. $12,500.

Description
N.p.: N.p., 1919. Vintage album housing 49 vintage reference photographs from the 1919 silent film, most showing noted early film star William Farnum. Of particular note in the album is a photograph of Farnum on the set with actors Lamar Johnstone and Charles Clary, holding bouquets of flowers, ostensibly at the end of the shoot. Laid in with the album is a small newspaper clipping from the Los Angeles Evening Herald, showing a photograph of Farnum with his wife and stepson and noting Farnum's adoption of his stepson, with a small manuscript ink annotation, presumably made by Farnum, at the top of the clipping: "It was raining + I wore all my old duds-darn it, I wasn't ready." A wealthy, married mining engineer suffers amnesia after being injured in a mining explosion planned by his business rivals, and is forced to seek shelter with a Chilean shepherd and the shepherd's daughter, with whom he falls in love. Now considered a lost film. At the peak of his success Farnum was one of the highest-paid actors of the silent film age, but was forced into an early semi-retirement after being injured on the set of the 1924 film "The Man Who Fights Alone." He appeared sporadically in character roles throughout the late 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, and enjoyed a successful career on Broadway. Photographs generally 10 x 8 inches. Near Fine. Album 12 x 8.25 inches. Very Good plus, lightly soiled and creased.
