Description
Philadelphia: A. M. E. Book Concern Printers, 1911. Hardcover. Very Good. 250p. Red cloth. 23cm. Title lightly inked on plain backstrip. Lacks front free endpaper (ragged remnant pasted down over hinge). No Jacket (presumably as published). This scarce book, which also is found softbound in wrapper, was Wright's Doctoral thesis at the University of Pennsylvania. Wright, was born in Cuthbert, Georgia, where his later-to-be-famous father was principal of an elementary school. R. R. Wright, Jr. also became prominent -- serving as President of Wilberforce University (1932-1936) until he was elected a Bishop of the AME Church. Both father and son were also involved in ownership of a Philadelphia bank that catered to African Americans. The younger Wright was also involved in real estate, reputedly owning about 50 houses in the Philadelphia area.
