Bevelled boards. Top edge gilt. Decorative endpapers. Color frontispiece protected with a tissue-guard. Title-page in red and black lettering. First edition of this fascinating Introduction to the Study of Biblical Archaeology, compiling a list of the proper names In the Old and New Testaments with the signification of most of them in the original languages, and the ancient and modern equivalents of the principal geographical designations. This work is profusely illustrated with numerous b/w in-text illustrations, full-page b/w photographic reproductions, photogravures, and 2 color plates (including frontispiece), depicting Babylonian, Egyptian, Assyrian, North Syrian and Phoenician antiquities. Each plate is protected with a tissue-guard. Minor age-wear on binding with slight soiling on front cover and spine. Head and tail of spine somewhat rippled. Very minor and sporadic foxing throughout. Binding in overall good+ to very good, interior in very good condition.
